Maybe solar panels aren’t a viable option for you right now, but you still want to save as the sunny season sneaks upon us. You don’t have to go to drastic measures to keep from using too much energy in your home this summer. Instead, consider of a few small-scale improvements that add up to big-scale savings.
Turn off Your Cooling System at Night
Even if your home would be stuffy without air conditioning during a blazing summer day, summer nights can be mild enough for nothing more than open windows and fans. Remembering to turn off your air conditioning before going to bed is a big energy and money saver. Just don’t forget to close the windows in the morning to keep the sun from spiking up the temperature. During the day, set the thermostat as high as you can while still remaining comfortable so that your cooling system will come to life less frequently. Continue reading
